SEBI to explore global advisory practices in the wake of RIA regulation in India

According to media reports, the Securities and Exchange Board of India is exploring the global advisory practices to understand the implication of the proposed regulations on Registered Investment Advisor in India. The capital market regulator has asked one of the associations of investment professionals to prepare a report on global trends on advisory business. This is in context of the consultation paper on investment advisor in which it has proposed to segregate fee-based advisors and distributors who receive commission from asset management companies.
